I just want to say that I listened to all these people who said views and CCK are the best way to customize Drupal to suit your needs, I did, I thought they had something good going on.
No longer.
I hate views. I'll learn it if I have to. But it's driving me nuts! The workflow is crappy - it's nothing but a glorified templating machine that erases all the flexibility that I used to enjoy hacking template files and combining specific purpose modules and for the most part all it does is replace that flexibility with the capacity to build nifty lists - yes, still lists.
I DON'T WANT LISTS ANYMORE.
And if I have to build lists I would like it to be a f**k of a lot easier than it has been thus far using views.
(btw: I am listening to an incredible mash-up of The Beatles, Aretha franklin and the Pixies.)
I am a designer, not a maker of shopping lists, or writer of code. I don't want to have to learn some bloated peice of module that was written by I don't know what kind of coders. Did they consult designers and ask us how we work? W kind of tools we are looking for? Whether the way we imagine information is as a set of carefully constructed mysql queries or in some other fashion?
I want to be able to use these things without having to think like a coder. I want to think like a designer and a hacker. That's all.
