• They are both Queer
  • They both were huge fans of the Parachute Club album Small Victories. (Only one of them wrote and sang the music, while the other just listened to the cassette while walking home from grade 3)
  • They were both at the Ontario Place stage the summer of 1985 except Gowan's set was long and Miriam had to go home to bed before the Parachute Club really got into their groove.
  • According to an email sent to me by Copycamp we're both interested in attending this university sponsored 'unconference' that costs like $700 unless I am applying for a bursary then it's only $495.

Dudes, once your event has an UN in front of it, I think you're more or less shut out of the charging +100 bucks for entrance category. It's like asking for presents on your un-birthday - very un-classy.

It doesn't say on the site perhaps housing is including in the price of registration though, hotels in TO are steep. Clearly coffee and muffins are part of the package.

The actual subject line of this email I received email was "What do Miriam and Lorraine Segato have in common?" The answer: "They are both interested in Copycamp 2006". Which was enough warrant a blog entry on it's own but then I went and looked at the website and was taken aback by the crazy price-tag.

Really though, $700 bucks and you won't even tell me who's attending except perhaps Lorraine Segato, and props to Lorraine we have our history and she's a sister. But the tickets to her show at Ontario Place were like 12 bucks, adjusted for inflation that's still only 20 dollars, and I got to see tiny little Gowan sing selected hits from " Great Dirty World" aussi.

Okay I am out. Gotta go download some Canadian new-wave classics.
